UK vs Myself at Fuentos de Onoro As Myself (red, British) prepares his defenses, and brings down troops from the upper fortress area, UK (blue, French), 2 minutes into the battle, suddenly strikes. Ignoring the common logic of this field that the key to victory is paved across the extremes of the map, both far north and far south, UK instead launches 2 massive attacks right up the middle; at the town in center and across the northern bridge. Myself has not garrisoned the town, and as French cannon reign ball down on the streets, French cavalry rush in and throw back the British defenders. Massive numbers of French continue to cross into the town (1) and just to the north of it while farther upstream at the bridge (2) massed French contend for the bridge. Now, 9 minutes into the battle, the town belongs to the French yet their northern forces have met stiff resistance at the bridge. Around 600 British are holding back twice their number but suffer terribly. The British have drawn up defensive lines behind the town on the hills, and one hill just to the north of town (3) becomes a turning point of the battle. Massed French try to push up the hill. A British regt breaks as the push becomes too intense yet other British stand. A French cannon roles forward and unleashes cannister into these desperate men causing casualties and even more to run. Yet the few remaining hold the hill, and as Myself pushes in from the West, the French retreat. The British are now counter-attacking and British cavalry throw the French at the south of town (5) back across the river. It is 21 minutes into the battle and the tide has turned. The French are being pushed back on all fronts except the extreme south. Here, the relief column of British allied Spanish, who were spared the initial attack, attempt to attack the French in the rear/left. They are met and soundly defeated by the French relief column. Yet both armies stand at around 3,800 men still fighting. The British soon re-take the streets of the town but surprisingly, tragically, they fail to garrison any buildings. As the French relief column pushes across the river, just to the south of town, and French Northern forces consolidate their position on the British side of the bridge, the French again push for the town. The British town forces, now surrounded by French firing at them from houses to their rear, and getting fire from French lines in front soon break apart. The French relief column pushes through town up towards the north. Facing 10/1 odds, and with no more formed regts Myself finally surrenders his remaining 200 troops to UK 's victorious French army.
