Well, then you should go to our website research area. At the bottom are some links to great Napoleonic historical information. Good luck in your research.

I think it was General de'Alava who was a Spanish liason officer to Wellington throughout the Peninsula war.
I think he was also present at the battle of Trafalgar!

You should have said two thirds Dutch/Belgium/Hannoverian as that is a more accurate figure the British have allways claimed too much glory for themselves at Waterloo to the unjustice of there allies.
The more accurate name for the battle should have been "La Belle Alliance" as this is a feature of the battlefied itself and is a more fitting name to reflect the nature of the alliance of nations fighting against Napoleon, the campaign of 1815 was not declared a war on the French nation just one man " Napoleon" .
Wellington decided the name La Belle Alliance would be too hard for the British nation to pronounce and settled for the much simpler name of Waterloo, wich we all know is quite a few kilometres from the actual battlefield and was the village where Wellington set up his HQ before the battle itself.

i hate people saying, uhhh we brits won the day at waterloo.. when as sharpe says 2/3 were allies (+i have a regiment by regiment figures on waterloo with each regiments numbers etc. and i tell ya that figure or 2/3ds is true, while all the brits on the cdv cossacks2 forum have their heads high and say taht the allies just unhelped the brits!)
Also there was a reason why it was called the ANGLO-ALLIED army!
Also m8... if you realy want to make this map in details wait for my mod for a little while... you will have all units that you ll need with it _________________

Hi
Yes it's a bit misleading to say that the English won everything by themselves, when they had Scottish, Irish and even Welsh helping them not to mention the Germans, Dutch, Belgians, Portuguese, Spanish and to some extent the Italians. However they did have some great generals, excellent tactics and some very brave men.
Ok when was the first time Britain was invaded and when was the last and who was the last person to try???

Hmmm, let me try on this one.
Well, the first invasion would be the Romans and shortly after that the Anglo-Saxons? Then, the last succesful invasion being the Normans under William the Conqueror (1066, Battle of Hastings) then unsuccesful attempts by William Wallace, theSpanish, the French with Bonnie Prince Charlie, and intentions by Napoleon and Hitler. Did I miss anything? _________________

Yes, well, I had thought of that too (the Picts etc) but then I was wondering if those wouldn't just be considered migrations as opposed to invasions. Bretons had always been thought of as the original inhabitants of England. I think of an invasion as being more a overthrow of an old order and replacing it with a new one...........and if I'm right then YOUR wrong......mwahahahaaa _________________
