Hi!

For those of you who are strongly interested in that struggle between his Royal Majesty's Redcoats and our Yankee friends_ I'm especially thinking of those who create maps based on it_, and for the others too, I've been given THE book. Thanks to my girlfriend's dad who has been offered the book by its author who is an english teacher like him, I discovered a way of seeing, thinking, and living the military life like never before.

Ok lads, I'll explain.
I am not really familiar with this War and also this entire period of Napoleonic Wars. I'm working on the French and Indian War, which is a bit earlier... Anyway, by this time the drill, the daily military life, the boys in the ranks, and even the way of conducing a battle (in an european manner), hadn't changed so much.

So now, read this book, and you will, as much as me I guess, enjoy sharing a firing session with your fellow Grenadiers of the 49th regiment of His Majesty at Queenston, advancing under deadly fire at Crysler's Farm, suffer one of the most horribly drastic inspections you can imagine (except maybe for those of you who are soldiers Wink ), live the daily routine of soldiering in the early 19th century, and simply have a taste of what could be the life of a private.

I know, it's not that new or whatever you want, but most of the books or archives you can find give an "airplane" point of view, kind of ACFB map where you can see the action in its globality, afterward, and with sort informations. Understand what I mean? Smile

So, Here's the most wonderful book ever:
"The Bloody Boy", Doug Thomas, Keltoi Publishing, 2001, Canada

Enjoy!
And any comments, critics, or better books (who knows? Smile ) are welcome.

Hey Tiflo,

Sounds pretty interesting. More of a "reality TV" sort approach to the daily life of a soldier, yes, seems like some good reading. Thanks for the recomendation.
