Sad News For The Union.
Yesterday at Antietam Rebel forces commanded by Robert E Lee and Led by Stonewall Jark and J.E.Bud.Stuart won a hard won victory over Union Forces commanded by George Brinton McLellan and commanded by Ambrose Greenside and Joseph Sharpe Hooker.
The battle comenced at 7.00am when a cow fromRoulette farm strayed in between the opposing officers from both sides tried to capture the cow with the rebels wining the contest.
The sound of the cheering from the union side alerted Stonewall Jark to a large force of Union troops advancing against his wing .Stonewal Jark launched a mass attack at the Union troops and J.E.Bud Stuart started to flank the attacking Northern troops ,Sharpes men where fighting hard and the rebels where suffering more casualties at this stage of the battle, when two Rebel cavalry regiments stormed over the hill capturing and killing all the Union fixed artillery position, with the hill being lost rebel troops where able to attack the rear of the brave Union troops fighting so well against overwhelming rebel attacks.
The union line broke under this fresh onslaught and started falling back over the upper bridge, Mclellan was not too disturbed by this early reversal he still had the upper hand in troop numbers and his defeated first corps had inflicted damage to the rebels, orders where then issued to his other two corps to commence there attack .
Joseph Sharpe hooker took command of the 2nd corps and his blood was up no Damn Yankee was going to whoop his Ass and he rushed his men over the middle bridge, fanning his men out into attack formation.
Meanwhile Ambrose Greenside was having an early luncheon allways eating that man, recieves his orders from Mclellan, BRB was his reply scoffing down his last smoked salmon paste sandwich.
To arms men was his call, "but Sir there is a undefended ford down stream" one of his officers pointed out. " Damnn you sir I want that Bridge and from this day on people will call it Greensides Bridge"
But this was no bumbliing buffoon this was the great Greenside at his best a fixed bayonet charge with cavalry support the troops surged forward through Grapeshot anf musket ball, the bridge was taken in record time,
" onward to Sharpsburg" Greenside yelled.
Meanwhile the rebels had taken up a good defensive position on the two hills overlooking the Boonsboro turnpike road that led into Sharpsburg.
Greenside watched in horror as Joseph Sharpe Hooker not waiting for Greensides men launched a devastating attack along the road trying to split the rebel forces, The Rebels where sorely tried and regiments where about to break when the Union troops charged onto the rebel gun line and the deadly grape shot took its toll, the attack stalled but wait here is Grenside to push home the final attack, "Victory is ours" they yell.
But no here comes A P hill and his light division marched 17 miles from Harpers ferry, where they had looted Union stores and re clothed themselves into union uniforms, they came crashing into Greensides left flank and momentarily stopped his attack.
This timely intevention allowed the rebels to re form on the hills and counterattack the union forces who started to flee the field of battle.
Mclellan still had a reserve of 25 000 men but he dare not use it, it was the last reserve of the last army of the Union, his nerve had gone.
He was a sad figure waiting at the middle bridge to great his defeated army " it was all my fault men" he wept, he ordered Joseph Sharpe Hooker to form a defence line with his corps incase of a Rebel counterattack " sir I have no corps left" the tears rolled down Sharpes cheeks, what would his Grandfather who fought in the Penninsular war for the British think of all this.
The rebel yell roared over the battlefield and the bands struck up Dixie, but a lot of old friends where not there to hear it.

Sorry G3, for once I've not even set "record battle" once, prior to my engagements these past few days.
Could someone also post , or send me the correct rules of engagement for Antietam because I am unable to open the rules I have.
P.s. great battles guys, let's keep them rolling in!! _________________

Hi Casey
You set the options on the menu when u load up fb to record and give the recording a name, you can also set the options at the beginning of a battle from the menu. Press F11 to record a screenshot, then locate the screenshots in your fb screenshot folder.

|
|
hi there Casey.
Yes press F11 when you want to take a screenshot. You can either do this during the battle ( if you aren't under too much pressure ) or if you are recording the game, then it's much better to review the game when you have time and get some then.
To record a battle, load the game as normal and when you see the main menu choose OPTIONS and then click the bottom option on the next screen ( save game ) and name it ( e.g. 1st battle .......todays date !! ) and then continue to the server as you normally do.
You can change the name of the recorded battle if you open the main fb folder and look inside the SAVE folder. Any of these battles which are recorded will say, when you click them.....REC..... otherwise it will say SAV ( the last autosave made before the game finished ).
If you want to review a recorded battle then go to main menu when loading the game, choose LOAD and then SAVED RECORDS and choose the battle from the list you see ( if you rename a battle then the new name will appear here, just as you've changed it in the saved folder ).
hope this helps m8. _________________

Hi Guys
Had a good battle with Dark Lord and UK yesterday, at Roucoux. Dark Lord was French, Uk was Pragmatic Right and I was Pragmatic left. DL made his first strike on the pragmatic right which was held off by UK. DL then started to draw most of his resources from his right to join the attack, so I decided to tie up some of his troops by attacking them on the march and pinning them down. DL was then forced to fight on two fronts a smaller battle on his right and a much larger battle with UK on his left. The two battles raged and I managed to break the French units in the smaller battle and consolidate with UK and help with the larger attack. After lots of fightinmg and manouvering DL's attack looked promising for a while but was overpowered by the upgraded austrians and Germans. Maybe not being able to consolidate all his strength was the key. DL made a retreat closley pesued by UK and myself and after a brief consolidation of troops, by both sides DL made his final stand and recieved his first defeat at Roucoux.
Cheers DL and UK great battle |
