Hi Stu,
playing with more than one commander on one side you need to set up colors from the map you are playing before you start it, then choose teams numbers, if there is more colors then use computer players and set up team number for them the same like rest of army, you can arrange it in the room, be sure you have choosen all colors from the map, otherwise other color soldiers will fight with you, you can change the color during the battle using "Crtl+o" buttons,
when you have on the map only two colors then still you can play it with more then two players, they need only to set up the same color in the room and the same team (then agree about who has what from the army )
See you on the field, have good time with our battles,
Cheers,
Jark
I hope I wrote it understandable _________________

Yeah just the way Jark says it, if you understood his use of language!!?
He's Polish and even though his English is very good, I'm not quite sure you would understand "EXACTLY" what he meant.
If the only colours on the map are the 2 main armies ( e.g. Red and Blue ) then you simply chose Teams 1 and 2.
If you have more players (e.g. 2v2 ) then simply makesure each player on the same side has the same colour and same team number ( e.g. 2 players choose red and team 1 and 2 players choose blue and team 2 )
Simply decide before you start the battle who shall have which troops on the field and a possible tactical strategy ( if need be ).
If you are playing a battle which has extra colours aswell as the 2 main army colours then do as follows;
Let's say the red army has 2 proxy colours (e.g black and orange ) and the blue army ( e.g purple and green ) then carry out the following actions.
1v1 battle.
You choose team 1 and decide to have the red army so makesure you set the other 2 colours to team 1 using the computer players set to "easy"
Your opponent selects his colour , takes team 2 and you also set his 2 proxy colours to "easy" with computer players.
1v2;2v2;2v3;3v3 battles.
Decide which players are fighting on which sides and simply use a colour for each person from your army, making sure you use the same team numbers ( as usual ) and again if there are colours left unused by human players then place them onto computer players ( as above )
When the game loads and the colours / players names appear above the mini map on the right side of the main screen it is now safe to type messages on screen and if any players in the game have chosen "proxy"colours ( e.g orange / black, etc ), then this is the time to change to the "main army colour" ( do this by clicking the "M" top centre of page along the resources tool bar ) If you type or swap colours before the players names appear on the screen then this can cause the map to crash, or make it impossible to swap colours or even select some troops in your main army.
I hope this is enough info for you and aslong as you read it carefully you shall have no problems.
Any further questions or queeries then don't hesitate to post them on this same topic. _________________

Hi
The Proxy colours were origionally done for Cossacks-AOW and were carried forward to AC. Then we experimented and realised that AC don't need them, but some of the early maps still have them. Just set up a dummy player for the main coulurs and assign a player or a dummy player to the proxy colour troops and also put them on the right team.
The latest maps only have two main colours so you can have say 3 players red team 1 and another 3 playes blue team 2
