hey hawks and guests , i would like share an old discovery in the game cossack II battle for europe , and i don't know if it's famous , well , i post on the forum ...

well i have known about this for at least 5 years!
I even made several maps for a MOD that was never released which was a shame

the problem is the editor is very limited and you can only have small maps
the only thing that's good about it is you get real roads

Maybe I'm nuts, but this find was awesome to me! I have been very frustrated by not being able to play Cossacks II BFE, it's made me go crazy. Then one day, I Googled Cossacks II BFE on XP, so after reading a bunch of unhelpful information, I came across some fellow's post on Steam concerning the same problem. He stated that his fix was to delete the settings files in the data subfolder. So, months later(Yea, I read the post and forgot about it and then couldn't find until today), I decided I would give it a crack and to my pleasant surprise Cossacks started working! All I can say is whoa!! I love it! I don't know why so many people say it's not that great a game, I think it's awesome. I might actually start modding it, but first I'm gonna mod acfb or the original good old Cossacks 1. Most likely it will be acfb or acdn though. Right now though, I'm clearing out the comp that best suits my modding purposes and getting ready for the end of the summer semester in college.

That being said I am really flabbergasted about being able to play Cossacks now. Who would have know the fix for it was so simple!!!

because its unrealistic and crap. a few units on the battlefield. total war style. and the game has a basic this equals that system. 90% of most engagements are two battalions of soldiers dancing around trying to get the first volley. the rest is routing hundreds of soldiers with a few arty shells or a small tower with a small garrison routing a few hundred men. its unrealistic. and does'n simulate well either. a brutal battle would last for about 10 minutes and would involve less then 1,000 men in this game.

Cossacks seems extremely fun when you start playing it but it gets more and more boring and unrealistic as you play it. HEW on the other hand just gets more enjoyable.
