[FB] Gettysburg

Author: [HWK]Bud, [FB American Civil War Map], 01 July 1863 General Lee's Army Of Northern Virginia of 75,000 men and the 97,000 man Union Army Of The Potomac under General George G. Meade met, by chance, when a Confederate brigade sent forward for supplies observed a forward column of Meade's cavalry. Of the more than 2,000 land engagements of the Civil War, Gettysburg ranks supreme. Although the Battle of Gettysburg did not end the war, nor did it attain any major war aim for the North or the South, it remains the great battle of the war. Here at Gettysburg on July 1, 2, and 3, 1863, more men actually fought and more men died than in any other battle before or since on North American soil.

Author [HWK]Stu, Ramillies (FB Map) 1706 (War of Spanish Succession). Marlborough and his Allied armies (red) followed up a brilliant victory at Blenheim with this battle in which a feint to a flank preceded a knock-out punch to the French (blue) center with massed cavalry (cavalry being giant percentages of both armies). Similarly, Master Map Maker Stu has followed up his map of Blenheim with his own "victory" in map creation, Ramillies. Red attacks, one-upgrade, read enclosed material.

[FB] Albuera 1811

Author [HWK]SirWilliam, Albuera (FB Map) 1811 (Peninsular War), "The day was mine, and they did not know it, and would not run", [Marshall Soult]. Albuera was a British victory, mainly due to the stubborn British infantry who refused to recognise defeat, even when it was staring them in the face. French (Red) are the attacking side and the allied Spanish, English and Portuguese are defending the town and the heights.
