Author: [HWK]Kosciuzko (For AC & FB) The Imperialists under De Vasto made the first move, sending 900 harquebusiers to skirmish the French line. The French commander replied with 800 French and Italians harquebusiers. After 4 hours of skirmish the two commanders started using their artilleries without great results. After hours of fighting with artillery and harquebusiers, The Imperialists advanced on the French position. The first serious fight started on the imperialist left flank, where the cavalry was routed by the French cavalry. The French pursued the fleeing imperial cavalry and charge the Italian infantry. The French cavalry were repulsed, but managed to disorganise the Italians, which lost precious time while they had to reform. On the right imperialist flank, the Spanish and German veterans gradually repulsed the two French columns, which started to retire in panic. Bourbon launched the main French cavalry squadron against the Spanish, which were stopped by the Spanish and the Germans, who inflicting heavy casualties on the French. The French and Swiss infantry continue their advance to win the field and cut the retreat of the imperialists right wing. After some hard fighting, 600 Spanish and 2 300 Germans surrender to the French. Less than 600 Spanish could escape from the trap.
Author: [HWK]Kosciuzko (For AC & FB) In February 1525 an Imperialist army under Lannoy, Viceroy of Naples, advanced to relieve the city. Both imperialist and French armies numbered approximately 20,000 men, with the French having an advantage in cavalry. On the night of February 23/24 the Spanish attacked the French positions around the Mirabello Park, a large walled hunting estate, intending that its capture would make the French position untenable, and so force them to break the siege. The attack was slow, but the leading column under Del Vasto captured the hunting lodge. The French king was taken completely by surprise and hastily tried to assemble his army. The French cavalry quickly routed their Spanish counterparts, but in pressing home their attack, became separated from their infantry. In the Mirabello there are a great many hedges and small copses, which the Spanish infantry exploited to the full. The gendarmes could make no impression against such obstacles, and were cut down by massed arquebus fire in the greatest slaughter of the French nobility since Agincourt.
Author: [HWK]Bud, [FB Map], The Battle of Naseby, English Civil War, 1645. Perhaps the best known battle of the English Civil War, this was the engagement that saw the famous charge of the dashing Prince Rupert but the disciplined victory of Cromwell's New Model Army. Map maker bud has made the cavalry and infantry, both sides, different colors to limit the amount of shot availabel to both, making it more realistic and more nerve wracking for players. Read all instructions before playing.
